Uttarakhand: Over 5,000 visitors stayed at important locations in Uttarkashi District on New Year’s Eve, marking a notable rise in foot traffic to popular tourist areas in Uttarakhand, such as Kedarkantha, Harshil, and Dayara.
At Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, which is becoming more and more popular as a ‘New Year Destination,’ picturesque locations like Kedarkantha, Harshil, and Dayara are crowded with visitors from all over the nation. Over 3,000 visitors have visited the Harshil, Dayara, and Sankri areas as of right now. According to a post on the state government’s Department of Information and Public Relations’ official X account, nearly 5,000 visitors are estimated to have stayed at the district’s main tourism destinations.
The administration said that because of the surge in visitors, enhanced security measures were put in place.
Because of the increased number of visitors around the New Year, the Uttarakhand Police and Administration have also implemented enhanced security measures. Teams from the SDRF, police, and the Rapid Action Squad of Disaster Management have been sent to the tourist-heavy districts of Kedarkantha, Harshil, and Dayara,” the post said.
“These teams have been ordered to keep an eye on visitor movements and other arrangements in snow-covered regions, equipped with satellite phones, walkie-talkies, snow chains, searchlights, and other essential equipment. In order to maintain smooth roadways, the necessary equipment has also been placed in strategic locations,” it said.

Meanwhile, throngs applauded and danced in the streets of Manali, a well-known tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh. People in West Bengal used their mobile phones to flash lights in celebration. The New Year began with fireworks lighting up the sky in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
