The UAE has completed its 23rd evacuation in Gaza, under which about 55 seriously injured patients have been brought from Gaza to the UAE for treatment. The UAE carried out this evacuation on Tuesday with the help of the World Health Organization, in which a total of 127 people, including 55 critically injured patients and their family members, were rescued.
The Ghazi residents were taken from the Karam Abu Salam crossing to Israel's Ramon Airport, from where the evacuation flight took off for the UAE. The UAE has been facing constant criticism in the Muslim world over its friendship with Israel, despite which the UAE has been continuously providing humanitarian aid in collaboration with international agencies to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza.
The evacuation of injured Palestinians and cancer patients is part of an initiative launched by UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in October 2023 to treat 1,000 children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip in UAE hospitals. So far, 2,254 patients and their family members have been brought to the UAE.
The UAE's efforts demonstrate the urgent need for aid in Gaza, as almost all of its hospitals are no longer operational and have been destroyed by Israeli attacks. The evacuation also demonstrates the UAE's firm commitment to support the Palestinians.
For better treatment of sick and seriously injured Palestinians, UAE started the UAE Field Hospital in Southern Gaza on 2 December 2023, which has treated more than 50 thousand people so far. Apart from this, the hospital anchored at Al-Arish Port of UAE, which started in February 2024, has treated more than 8 thousand people so far.
