According to the company's filing, in return for the investment, British International Investment Limited will take 2.64 percent to 4.58 percent stake in Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited. This partnership between Mahindra and BII was formed two years ago for the growth of Mahindra's four wheeler electric business.
BII had earlier planned to invest Rs 1925 crore in Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited in two tranches. Recall that an investment of Rs 1200 crore was made in June 2023, but now for the second time, instead of the remaining Rs 725 crore, the company has reduced the original proposal because some promises agreed between the companies were not fulfilled.
In 2023, Temasek company also agreed to invest Rs 1200 crore in Mahindra's electric business. If this had happened, the company would have taken 1.49 percent to 2.97 percent stake in Mahindra.
According to the boost being seen in the electric vehicle segment, Mahindra Group plans to invest Rs 12 thousand crore in this segment between FY25-27.
