Using their valid passports or other international travel documents in addition to their Asian Winter Games identity cards, foreign athletes and staff connected to the Games will be permitted to enter and exit the Chinese mainland several times between January 1 and March 1, according to Xinhua.

With 19 international flights linking to South Korea, Japan, Russia, and other nations and regions, Harbin Taiping International Airport, the official entrance and departure point for the Games, has a vast air traffic network.

The airport now has a dedicated “Special Asian Winter Games Channel.” Additionally, the Harbin Exit-Entry Border Inspection Station has sent out skilled advice officers to help event attendees and employees get cleared more quickly.

According to local officials, the iconic ice-and-snow theme park in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in northeast China, has been enlarged in anticipation of the ninth Asian Winter Games.

Constructed on the northern bank of the Songhua River that runs through the city, the Ice-Snow World will expand from 810,000 square meters during the previous snow season to a million square meters during the next one. It will be the biggest event of the next snow season, with a size comparable to 140 football fields. The amount of ice and snow required to create creations like castles and towers has increased from 250,000 cubic meters to 300,000 cubic meters. The ninth Asian Winter Games are included into the park’s architecture and construction.

The Harbin Ice Lantern Festival, which began in 1963, served as the model for the theme park. To commemorate the millennium, Harbin constructed the Ice-Snow World in December 1999.
