Weight loss story: Woman reduces from 76 kg to 56 kg, reveals why ‘exercise is not enough’
A woman who nearly lost 20 kgs shares life lessons from her weight loss journey and emphasises on why exercise may not be enough.
Every New Year people reflect and retrospect. Look back on their journeys so far and ponder upon the life lessons and takeaways gathered. Weight loss journeys are similar were there a bunch of things to learn and unlearn. Novita Christy decided to share her learning on Threads after reducing nearly 20 kgs.
From 76 kgs, Christy came down to 56 kgs and detailed out her takeaways. Scroll down to read what helped her through the weight loss journey.
Exercise is not enough: In the Thread post Christy emphasise why exercising is not enough for weight loss. One should also watch what they eat. “In the photo on the left i have been exercising everyday for 2 years but still ate whatever I wanted until february this year. If you still eat your fried food and unhealthy tons of carbs there will be no weight loss or changes! However, I don’t regret exercising regularly every day before paying attention to what I eat because it forms a habit and maybe that’s what makes me lose weight faster.”
Consult a Professional: There is no harm in consulting professional. “I’ve been on a failed diet for years, leading to frustration and wanting to give up till i met @mealplan.id and i wish i had met them sooner also thanks to ci@patricia_stephanie who introduced them. Maybe some of you think “ah it’s expensive“ but trust me it’s more worth it than buying bla bla diet drinks or diet products that don’t necessarily work,” writes Christy.
Do not procrastinate: It could be a long journey. So start now! You will never regret it! In my frustration of 2 years of daily exercise but no changes, I pray to God, and He answers my prayer, through my mom’s relations, saying that I need to go to a nutritionist. Then Ci @patricia_stephanie introduced an online diet program from @mealplan.id. At that time, I immediately thought that next year I would wear a wedding dress (quite simple motivation) i knew if I didn’t start now. I would never make it.
Consistency: Find the strongest motivation and how to be consistent! For me, the closest event at that time was sangjit and i needed to wear a cheongsam dress (ofc, you know what i mean) yes that was my strongest motivation. Find many ways to be consistent: you must enjoy the food, explore the shortest and practical food prep for your daily activities, the sport you like, and etc.
Sharing weight loss journeys work as a source of motivation and inspiration to take that first step. What works for one is not a mandate for another. Find you own journey and a professional guidance can help in better construction of fitness regimes as per individual’s requirement.
