No.1 ranked Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah created history as he went past R Ashwin's all-time record of 904 rating points to become the Indian with the highest points tally in the ICC rankings. Bumrah has been sensational in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and is the leading wicket-taker of the series with 30 wickets. His tally of 907 rating points now puts him joint-17th in the all-time list along with England spinner Derek Underwood. England seamers Sydney Barnes (932) and George Lohmann (931), who played more than a century ago top the list, while Imran Khan (922) and Muttiah Muralidaran (920) are third and fourth.Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah could achieve a historic feat in the fifth Test in Sydney. Bumrah needs just three wickets to surpass Harbhajan Singh's tally of 32 wickets to become the leading wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Harbhajan took 32 wickets in the 2000-01 series while Bumrah has already taken 30 wickets in four matches. Given his form, this looks no big task for the gun bowler. Bumrah has single-handedly carried the Indian hopes in the first four teams, keeping the team alive in the race. Even though India can't win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, they still have a chance to retain it if they can win the final Test. Bumrah's efforts kept India in the hunt in all games but the lack of support from other players, especially the senior batters like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant, hurt the team. The defeat in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne also dented India's hopes of reaching the WTC final. For India to qualify, they must win the Sydney Test and then hope that Sri Lanka win both their Test matches against Australia in the upcoming series.
