Tragedy in New Orleans: Vehicle rams into crowd, 10 dead, several injured

PTC Web Desk: A horrifying incident was reported on Wednesday in New Orleans as a vehicle reportedly rammed into a crowd at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville. The area, known for its vibrant nightlife, was thrown into chaos around 3:15 am. As many as 10 deaths have been reported so far and many are injured.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell described incident as a 'terrorist attack'. The strike appears to be intentional, the police told ABC News.

According to eyewitnesses and social media posts, emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, including police, ambulances, and coroner's vehicles. Video footage reveals a large-scale emergency operation as the authorities worked to assess the situation.

Reports suggest that a truck ploughed into the crowd at high speed before the driver exited the vehicle and allegedly opened fire. Witnesses recounted a shootout between the suspect and police officers, as reported by CBS News.

 spokesperson from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) shared, "Preliminary reports indicate a vehicle struck a group of people."

Investigators are working to determine whether the act was intentional or accidental. The police have advised the public to avoid the area while emergency teams continue their operations.
