Dhaka: In a big setback, ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das's bail plea has been rejected by a Bangladesh court on Thursday. At least 11 Supreme Court lawyers participated in the bail hearing on Chinmoy Krishna Das. The legal team was tasked to defend Das in a sedition case resulting from allegations of disrespecting Bangladesh's national flag.On December 3, last year, a Chittagong court had fixed January 2 for bail hearing as the prosecution submitted a time petition and there was no lawyer to represent Chinmoy. This came days after an unrest in Bangladesh wherein sedition charges were pressed against Chinmoy Krishna Das for allegedly raising a saffron flag above Bangladesh's national flag in Chittagong on October 25. Following this, he was arrested by the police which led to a massive protest and clashes on November 25. His folowers clashed with the law enforcement outside the Chattogram Court Building on November 27, and a lawyer died in this incident.Later, according to ISKCON Kolkata, two monks, Adipurush Shyam Das and Ranganath Das Brahmachari, were detained on November 29 following their visiti to Chinmoy Krishna Das in custody.
