Two thieves who were involved in a robbery at Rishabh Jewellers, located at Saat Rasta in Mumbai's Arthur Road area, have been arrested.
The accused broke into Rishabh Jewellers and made away with gold and silver worth ₹2 crores on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 PM. Both suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
One accused, Santosh Kumar, a resident of Chirgaon, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended by the local police.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch, Unit 3, arrested the main accused, Vinod Lakhan Pal (28), from Madhya Pradesh.
Pal was involved in the Agripada robbery case where he and his associate looted gold worth ₹1.90 crore at gunpoint. Following extensive technical investigation, five teams of the Mumbai Crime Branch tracked him down to a farm in Simarabhata village, Tehsil Prithvikpur, District Niwadi, Madhya Pradesh. A late-night raid was conducted, leading to Pal's arrest. He is being brought to Mumbai for further investigation.
The robbers targeted Rishabh Jewellers on December 29. The duo entered the showroom under the pretext of purchasing jewellry. According to police, jewellry showroom owner Bhavarlal Dharamchand Jain (50) and his employee Puran Kumar were assaulted by the robbers at gunpoint. The accused then looted gold ornaments weighing 2,458 grams, worth ₹1.91 crore, along with silver ornaments weighing 2,200 grams, worth ₹1.77 lakh. They also stole cash amounting to ₹15,000 and a Wi-Fi router. After assaulting the shop owner and employee, the robbers tied them up and fled the scene.
