Who is Rajinder Gupta?
Born in a financially underprivileged family in Punjab Rajinder Gupta quit school when he was 14 and began doing odd-jobs as a daily-wage labourer to help his familys financial situation. Rajinder worked as a factory worker making candles and cement pipes at a daily wage of Rs 30 but his fortunes changed in the mid-1980s when he decided to use his savings to establish a fertilizer factory Abhishek Industries in 1985.
Guptas entrepreneurial venture skyrocketed within a short span of time and in 1991 he entered the textile industry by established a a spinning mill as a joint venture which became hugely successful and churned out a lot of profit.
From labourer to billionaire business tycoon
After his initial successful ventures Rajinder Gupta diversified his business interest in the textiles paper and chemical industries and founded the Trident Group a massive business conglomerate which has market cap of over Rs 17000 crore and boasts retail giant JCPenney Walmart and Luxury and Linen among its clientele.
From humble beginnings as a cotton trader Rajinder Gupta built an expansive business empire from scratch and in 2022 stepped down as the Director of the Board of the Trident Group citing personal reasons and now serves at the Chairman of the group as well as its Corporate Advisory Board.
Rajinder Guptas remarkable success story is taught as a case study in business schools and serves as an inspiration for millions of aspiring entrepreneurs who want to start their own ventures but are financially constrained. The self-made billionaire tycoon was also featured in a recent list of Indias most successful businessmen.
Rajinder Gupta has a net worth of $1.5 billion (over Rs 12300 crore) according to Forbes.
