Acclaimed actor Colin Firth takes centre stage in a heart-wrenching drama centred on the devastating Lockerbie disaster.

In Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, the series covers the disaster which saw a terrorist plant a bomb on Pan Am Flight 103, causing it to explode mid-air before crashing into the Dumfries and Galloway market town of Lockerbie.

Dr. Jim Swire becomes the voice of the victims' families as he investigates the horrific plane crash that claimed 270 lives in the Scottish town.

This five-part series delves into the catastrophe and its aftermath, offering a deeply personal narrative of a man, a husband, and a father who stakes everything in honour of his daughter Flora and his relentless quest for truth and justice.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth is set to premiere on Sky Atlantic on January 2, 2025. The series will also be accessible on NOW in the UK and Ireland.

Colin Firth as Dr Jim Swire

Oscar winner Colin Firth steps into the shoes of Dr Jim Swire, a doctor and family man who emerges as a key spokesperson for the victims' families in the wake of Flight 103's explosion. His daughter, Flora, was among those lost in the blast.

Colin Firth bagged an Oscar for his portrayal of King George VI in The King's Speech and has graced the screen in the Kingsman films, Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones films, A Single Man, 1917 and Operation Mincemeat.

Catherine McCormack as Jane Swire

Jane Swire, the wife of Jim Swire and mother to Flora, was a steadfast ally in her husband's quest for truth and justice following the Lockerbie bombing. The role is brought to life by Catherine McCormack, known for her performances in Braveheart, Temple, Slow Horses, Sherlock, and 28 Weeks Later.

Sam Troughton as Murray Guthrie

Sam Troughton steps into the shoes of Murray Guthrie, a fictional local journalist who is quick to arrive at the scene in the opening episode. Sam hails from a family of actors, with his brother William Troughton starring in The Archers and his grandfather Patrick Troughton being the second actor to play Doctor Who.

His acting credits include Litvinenko, Vera Drake, Hex, and The Lazarus Project.

Mark Bonnar as Roderick McGill

Scottish actor Mark Bonnar takes on the role of Roderick McGill. He began his career with guest appearances in renowned crime dramas such as Taggart, Rebus, and Wire In The Blood, before landing roles in Shetland, Guilt, The Rig, Litvinenko, and Operation Mincemeat.

Ardalan Esmaili as Abdulbaset al-Megrahi

Abdulbaset al-Megrahi, one of the two men accused of the Lockerbie bombing, is played by Ardalan Esmaili. A Libyan national suspected of espionage, his arrest and subsequent trial became an international affair, even involving the United Nations.

Despite his conviction, al-Megrahi maintained his innocence until his death. Esmaili has previously starred in Grey Zone and Deliver Me.

Muda Abbara as Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah

Muda Abbara takes on the role of Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah in the series. Initially implicated as one of the terrorists behind the Lockerbie bombing, Fhimah was later acquitted and returned to his home country.

Abbara's previous credits include The Swimmers and In Another Life.

Guy Henry as Paul Channon

Guy Henry portrays Paul Channon, the Secretary of State for Transport under the Conservative government during the Lockerbie incident. He faced heavy criticism from Labour MP John Prescott for holidaying with his family shortly after the attack, leading to his dismissal.

Henry is known for his roles in Holby City, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the Harry Potter franchise, and Extras.

Nabil Al Raee as Colonel Gaddafi

Nabil Al Raee steps into the shoes of Colonel Gaddafi, the controversial Libyan leader known for sponsoring international terrorist groups. His rule sparked a long-standing conflict with US President Ronald Reagan.
