Payette police officers were called to the 600 Block of North 8th Street at around 5:54 p.m. on Wednesday in response to a suspicious person attempting to set something on fire next to a railroad vehicle that was parked. The suspect was identified as Brent Sharrai. Who Is Brent Sharrai?Sharrai, 40, escaped the camp trailer on foot, but gave up after a brief chase. After being arrested on unresolved Payette County warrants, Sharrai was later charged with felony possession of a destructive device, felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanour possession of paraphernalia, and resisting and obstructing police. When a search warrant was carried out on the camp trailer Sharrai was in, paraphernalia and controlled drugs that resembled the device discovered on the train car were discovered.The Nampa Bomb Squad safely detonated the IED after removing it from the rail car with the help of a specialised robot. Sharrai was detained on outstanding warrants and charged with possessing a harmful device, a controlled drug, paraphernalia, and refusing and obstructing authorities. Federal accusations are still pending for both producing and possessing a dangerous device.The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating the event; as of right now, no motive has been revealed.
