From fake claims being circulated around the upcoming to an old visual being falsely shared as former PM Dr touching Congress' Sonia Gandhi's feet, read our weekly recap to find out the top five pieces of misinformation that went viral this week.
1. AAP, BJP Share Edited Visuals & Deepfake Videos Ahead of 2025 Delhi ElectionsAhead of the upcoming in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party () shared a video leaning into a meme from web series 'Panchayat' targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its policies in the state.
It showed two actors criticising irregularities under the different schemes introduced by the ruling government in Delhi.
Even though the video had a watermark that said 'spoof', this deepfake could have easily misled people. Team WebQoof passed the video through a named 'TrueMedia', which found substantial evidence of the clip being manipulated.
The tool showed substantial evidence of manipulation.
Soon after this, the AAP, shared a video from the same web series which showed the actors boasting about the ruling government in Delhi and highlighting various 'amenities' people receive due to the schemes.
As one can imagine, this video was a deepfake and its caption mentioned the word 'spoof'. TrueMedia's found substantial evidence of manipulation in the clip.
Both these clips highlighted the need for media literacy and to avoid falling for such m/disinformation, which might also contain propaganda.

2. BJP Delhi Shares Altered Image of Dilapidated Road Taking Dig at AAP GovtDelhi and its IT head Amit Malviya shared an image on their respective X (formerly Twitter) handles that claimed to show a recent visual of a dilapidated road in Delhi.
These posts took a dig at the ruling .

However, we found that the image has been digitally altered to add more potholes to mislead the viewers.

3. Does This Image Show Former PM Manmohan Singh Touching Sonia Gandhi’s Feet? No!Following former Prime Minister Dr 's death, an image was being circulated on the internet claiming that it showed an old visual of him touching Congress' .
However, we found that the claim was false. It actually showed a Congress representative touching the feet of Gandhi in 2011 at the Indian Youth Congress' national level convention in New Delhi.

4. No, This Clip Doesn’t Show Pakistani Man Marrying His Own MotherA video went viral on social media platforms with users claiming that a man named Abdul Ahad married his mother, who had raised him for about 18 years.

However, we found that the claim was misleading. It actually showed Ahad arranging his mother's second to a different person.

5. Fact-Check: Old Image of Manmohan Singh Viral as 'Last Photo Before Demise'Social media users shared an image of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh claiming that it showed the last visual of the leader before his demise.
