The release date for “Phule,” starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa, has been revealed.
On April 11, Mahatma Phule’s 197th birthday, the movie will be premiered in theaters.
With Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Patralekhaa as his wife, Savitribai Phule, the Ananth Mahadevan-directed movie vividly depicts the inspirational journey of this legendary pair who fought for equality and education in India.
“I am extremely honored to play Savitribai Phule in this film,” Patralekhaa said in a press statement about the release. She and Jyotirao Phule established the fundamental framework for contemporary education and social justice in India. It is only appropriate that we announce Phule’s release on the anniversary of her birth today. I’m overjoyed that viewers will soon be able to see their inspirational trip on a large screen and, perhaps, be inspired by their remarkable bravery and foresight.”
“We have adhered to the historical facts while making this film, but it is not just a historical narrative,” Mahadevan emphasized. The movie is an appeal to acknowledge the principles and sacrifices that continue to influence our culture. This is our little homage to a distinguished Indian son and daughter. For the Y generation, the movie is a must-see since it covers more ground than history books have. It’s a fascinating trip through time that illustrates how these geniuses influenced the history of our country.
According to the film’s creators, “Phule tells the story of Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule, who founded a social movement against gender inequality and caste discrimination, and their struggles and victories.” The Phules’ tale is one of unwavering fortitude and tenacity to alter the status quo of India’s rural society of the past, from founding the country’s first school for girls in Pune in 1848 to their groundbreaking efforts to promote education and social reform under British colonial administration.
