IND vs. AUS 5th Test: After dismissing the hosts for 181 on Day 2 in Sydney, India’s top wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant, helped the visitors register 141/6 at the close of the day with an incredible 61 runs off 32 balls. In the middle, when the visitors were up by 145 runs, were Washington Sundar [6] and Ravindra Jadeja [8].

As the Men in Blue started to play aggressively in the second innings, Pant reached the milestone with only 29 balls, smashing the second-fastest half-century in the longest format.

The Virat Kohli-led team had the advantage at first, particularly after lunch, when Mohammed Siraj (3/51), Prasidh Krishna (3/42), and Nitish Reddy (2/32) took over for Jasprit Bumrah, who was sidelined for 181 runs after leaving the field due to an unidentified injury.

Beau Webster of Australia hit a spectacular fifty in his first Test match, but the Indian spinners rocked Australia’s bottom batting order after Steve Smith was removed [37].

Marnus Labuschagne fell easily after scoring only two runs, and the Pat Cummins-led team started the day at 9/1. Then, in rapid succession, Siraj removed Travis Head [4] and Sam Konstas [23].

India’s first innings score, in brief: 185 all out

181 all out in 51 overs in Australia’s first innings (Beau Webster 57, Steve Smith 33; Prasidh Krishna 3/42, Mohammed Siraj 3/51, Nitish Reddy 2/32).

India: 141 for six in 32 overs in the second innings (Scott Boland 4/42, Rishabh Pant 61).
