Mithun Chakraborty was a popular name in Hindi cinema during the 1970s and 80s. Known for his unique dance moves and style he became a favorite among the youth of that time. He made a remarkable debut by winning a National Award for his very first film Mrigayaa. Following this Mithun delivered numerous hit films and became one of the most sought-after stars in the industry. Producers and directors were eager to work with him. Over the years he shared the screen with top actresses of that era including Sridevi Jaya Prada and Padmini Kolhapure. During that time Mithun Chakraborty made headlines not just for his successful film career but also for his personal life. Stories of his love affairs were widely discussed. He was reportedly in a relationship with the superstar of that era Sridevi. His name was also linked to actress Sarika. The two were said to be in a relationship for a few years before eventually parting ways. Shortly after breaking up with Sarika Mithun Chakraborty married Helena Luke one of the most beautiful actresses of that era. At just 21 years old Helena was already a model actress and dancer. In an interview with Stardust magazine Helena shared that Mithun would insist on marriage calling her from early morning until late at night. Eventually the two secretly tied the knot in 1979. However their marriage was short-lived. The main reason for their split was Mithun’s growing closeness to Yogeeta Bali. Mithun and Yogeeta were working together on the film Khwab. At the time Yogita was married to Kishore Kumar the legendary singer of that era. This led to the breakdown of Mithun and Helena’s relationship. In an interview Helena described her brief four-month marriage to Mithun Chakraborty as a nightmare. I wish this marriage had never happened she said. According to Helena Mithun had brainwashed her into believing they were meant to be together and she fell for it. However things quickly took a turn for the worse as arguments began between them.
