Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday blamed the Congress government for the 1984 Union Carbide gas disaster and accused it of not taking any action thereafter to dispose of toxic chemical waste. The opposition party hit back, saying that the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments, which were in power in the state for two decades, never cleaned the closed factory where chemical waste was lying.

Let us tell you that this allegation and counter-allegation took place during the protest in Pithampur, where earlier this week 337 tonnes of Union Carbide waste was taken for burning. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said at a function in Lateri in Vidisha district, 'Remember in whose time the Bhopal gas tragedy took place. This was a factory of death. Lakhs of people were killed, but they (Congress) did not feel ashamed.

Congress government allowed the factory to run

He alleged that the Congress government allowed the factory to operate despite the danger. Mohan Yadav said that his government remained in power for 20 years (after the tragedy), people were killed, neither did they care about the victims nor about the disposal of hazardous waste, because they do not have a soul, these are ruthless. There are people.

The government will keep the people of the country safe

He said that the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will keep the people of the country safe by following the instructions of the Supreme Court and the High Court (regarding garbage disposal). On December 3, Madhya Pradesh High Court had set a time limit of four weeks to transport the waste to the disposal site.

Targeted at CM Mohan Yadav

Congress leader and leader of opposition in the state assembly, Umang Singhar, in a post on Twitter reminded the Chief Minister that BJP has been in power for most of the last two decades. Singhar said that Shivraj Singh was also the head of the BJP government, so why was there no discussion on Union Carbide waste? Maun Babu (Mohan Yadav) feels that his government is the (only) BJP government. They do not consider the four terms of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as BJP government.

Methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked from the Union Carbide pesticide factory in Bhopal on the night of 2 and 3 December 1984, killing at least 5,479 people and leaving thousands seriously injured and with long-term disability. Had health related problems.
