New Delhi: A dense layer of fog has shrouded the national capital hindering flight services badly with over 400 planes delayed amid poor visibility conditions for the second day in a row. Delhi and parts of north India have been witnessing a continuous drop in temperature and a thick layer of fog covering the sky. On Saturday, Delhi airport witnessed a diversion of 19 flights and many cancellations, while more than 400 flights were reportedly delayed. According to a report in PTI, an official said that 19 flights were diverted at the airport between 12.15 am and 1.30 am due to reduced visibility. Thirteen of these were domestic, four international and two non-scheduled flights.The official said over 45 flights were cancelled due to bad weather conditions at Delhi airport as well as at the destination airports, the report added. Information on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, stated that more than 400 flights were delayed at the Delhi airport, news agency PTI added.A 10:02 pm, the Delhi airport missed a statement and said that low visibility procedures were underway at the airport and flight operations were normal.
