January 5, Tel Aviv, Israel (ANI/TPS): The Israel Defense soldiers claimed on Saturday that Israeli soldiers had targeted Hamas terrorists who were taking advantage of Gaza’s Salah ad-Din Highway. A major route for the delivery of humanitarian supplies, the 45-kilometer road stretches the whole length of the Strip from the Rafah border crossing with Egypt to the Erez Crossing in northern Gaza.
The IDF claims that the strike on Hamas happened distant from truck traffic and did not disrupt relief deliveries.
Israeli planes also struck a car transporting four armed Hamas militants in the central Gazan town of Deir al-Balah.
A tunnel path that went to a Hamas weapons production facility in central Gaza was discovered and demolished by troops from the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit, the IDF military said on Saturday.
Among other things, the facility included a number of lathes and cutting and processing equipment used in the manufacture of weapons. Additionally, military hardware was confiscated.
The forces also found Hamas utility rooms and subterranean tunnels with blast-resistant doors.
On October 7, Hamas attacked Israeli villages along the Gaza border, killing at least 1,200 people and taking 252 Israelis and foreigners captive. Over 30 of the 97 captives who are still alive have been pronounced dead. Additionally, the remains of two soldiers slain in 2014 and two Israeli citizens held hostage by Hamas from 2014 and 2015
