During the 1970s and 80s Bollywood saw a surge of superstars trying to establish their dominance amidst the rapidly changing times. Today we spotlight the highest-paid actress in the 1970s who ventured into films post-marriage and swiftly rose to stardom leaving an undeniable mark in the industry. The actress we are talking about is none other than Moushumi Chatterjee. Renowned for her work in Hindi and Bengali films the actress got married at the age of 15 to Jayanta Mukherjee the son of popular film producer music composer and singer Hemant Kumar. It was both her husbands and father-in-laws insistence and support that Chatterjee pursued acting after marriage. Why did Moushumi Chatterjee run away from the set of her debut film? Recalling the shooting experience of her debut film Chatterjee added I debuted at a very young age. I was 12 years old when I did the Bengali film Balika Badhu. Initially I was enjoying the lifestyle but later I started getting bored and I started eloping in between shots from the set. Then the funny thing was with my dad’s permission the production team used to lock me inside a glass room till my next shot sequence. Even director Tarun Majumdar Saab who is like a father figure used to be anguished by my behavior on-set and he ended up giving me a funny punishment where I had to hold my ears and stand after my mischief. The film Balika Badhu eventually became one of the best films in history. This allowed me to come to Mumbai for the first time to receive an award added the Prem Bandhan actress. Following her marriage the actress career took another leap and she appeared in several notable films like Anuraag (1972) Angoor (1982) Goynar Baksho (2013) and more. When Moushumi Chatterjee confessed her crush for Vinod Khanna Reportedly Moushumi Chatterjee had a crush on yesteryear star Vinod Khanna. She was very fond of the actor and also said that no one else could match his looks. In fact there were reports that Chatterjee refused to star in a film with Khanna because she was asked to wear a swimsuit. Meanwhile Moushumi Chatterjee was last seen in Piku (2015). She did a small role alongside Amitabh Bachchan Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan. Moreover she also played a significant role in Bengal crime-thriller Sesh Sangbad (2016)
