Patna: A confrontation between police and Jan Suraaj chairman Prashant Kishor‘s followers in the Gandhi Maidan area in Patna caused tensions to rise.

Kishor’s arrest earlier Monday during his indefinite hunger strike, which demanded action against the purported BPSC test paper leak, was followed by the altercation.

Supporters of Kishor widely denounced his detention, claiming that the government was trying to quell the demonstration because it was concerned about the unity that Kishor had cultivated among the populace.

“The administration is terrified of this unity,” a supporter of the Jan Suraaj chairman said. “Prashant Kishor was fighting for the people of Bihar, for the students…

“It is unacceptable to use physical force on him…Where he has been transported is unknown to us. He went on, “We’re asking, but nobody is telling us where he is.”

Another Kishor admirer emphasized that Kishor solely practiced “Satyagraha” and that the government was terrified of him.

“He didn’t break any laws. He performed Satyagraha by sitting in one spot. Because of him, the government is afraid. Where the cops took him is unknown. At the very least, let us know where he was taken,” he urged, “because we are demonstrating against this.”

“When Prashant Kishor was being held in custody, his glasses were tossed. They mistreated me, and I was hurt when I tried to take it. “Where Prashant ji has gone, we don’t know,” said another admirer.

When police tried to evict Kishor from Gandhi Maidan, the scene of his protest and the location of the hunger strike, the altercation broke out. Additionally, Patna Police checked cars near Gandhi Maidan and cleared the area where Kishor and his followers were keeping their fast-unto-death.

Since January 2, Kishor has been participating in the hunger strike in solidarity with students calling for the cancelation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) test due to claims that a question paper was leaked. After being arrested, he was taken by police in an ambulance.

The leader of Jan Suraaj had earlier said that the party will petition the High Court on January 7 against the anomalies in the BPSC.

“Whether or not we decide to continue this (protest) is not up to us. We will not alter our current course of action; we will keep doing it. On the 7th, we (the Jan Suraaj Party) will submit a plea to the High Court,” Prashant Kishor said.

Prashant Kishor met with demonstrators in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on Sunday. Additionally, he asked Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Bihar Assembly and a “tall” leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), to spearhead the demonstration.

Kishor was reacting to what the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar had said. He said that Yadav, as the LoP, ought to have led the demonstration rather than him.

“He is a towering leader, Tejashwi Yadav. He is the LoP as well. The demonstrations ought to have been led by him. I’ve been urging them to spearhead the demonstration. We’ll move aside. He said that he will be bringing five lakh people to Gandhi Maidan. It is important to discuss students and their problems. Politics may occur at any time. There isn’t a party flag here. The Jan Suraaj head said, “We are concerned with the students’ agenda.

“A dharna is not what this is. The people of Bihar are passionate about improving their circumstances and securing a brighter future. People from many walks of life are seated here, and some are singing in this chilly weather. I’m sick of responding to allegations. Try to find the vanity vehicle by looking around. Kishor answered, “We’ll sleep here too.”

Due to suspected question paper leaks, the BPSC students called for a protest against the cancelation of the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, which was held on December 13.
