Washington [USA], January 6: Timothee Chalamet made a lighthearted jab at the competition between himself and actor Jake Gyllenhaal to collaborate with filmmaker Denis Villeneuve on the most films. If the amount of production days in each film is taken into account, he joked that he would be in the lead.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Timothee presented the director with a Visionary Award for his work on Dune: Part Two, which came out last year, on Friday at the Palm Springs Convention Center, where he came to join ‘Arrival’ actress Amy Adams.
Timothee made a clever comment during the presentation about the race that seems to be tied with Jake Gyllenhaal, who previously acted in Villeneuve’s back-to-back prisoner and enemy flicks in 2013.
“If you look at the exact number of production days, I’m in the lead on that,” said Chalamet. The ‘Dune’ actor told THR that he subsequently quipped, “With apologies to Jake Gyllenhaal once more, who is in the earlier, smaller movies because as they’ve gotten bigger, it tends to be me who’s the lead.”
Villeneuve was described as a “terrific director” by the actor. He stated, “I was dying to work with a father figure, to a mentor and a close friend, and someone I like to gently remind every couple of weeks, usually over text, that God forbid anything happen to Denis or myself, ‘Can you be the director I work with most in my career, and can I be the actor you worked with the most in [your] career?”
The Dune movie actor claimed to have known Villeneuve for almost eight years. The actor clarified that even though they were close during that period, the director is still a mystery, a “rare artist” who is hard to categorize or identify.
Denis Villeneuve and Timothee Chalamet worked together on the movies “Dune: Chapter I” and “Dune: Chapter II.”
