Los Angeles [US], January 6: For his role in “Shogun,” Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada won the 2025 Golden Globes.
At this year’s presentation, the actor won the prize for best performance by a male actor in a drama television series. According to People, he was nominated against Eddie Redmayne for The Day of the Jackal, Jake Gyllenhaal for Presumed Innocent, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Donald Glover for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Billy Bob Thornton for Landman.
Sanada encouraged performers to never give up on their goals in his award speech.
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone in my life. “You’ve all brought me here,” Sanada said after his victory.
“Young actors and creators in the world,” he said, should “be themselves, believe in themselves, and never give up.” I wish you luck.
Tadanobu Asano, Sanada’s co-star, was also a Golden Globe winner. He received recognition in the television category for the finest performance by a male actor in a supporting role.
Shogun won 18 of the 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards last year. Sanada’s captivating performance as Yoshii Toranaga in FX’s epic series “Shogun” earned him the Emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series.Sanada became the first Japanese actor and just the second Asian actor to ever win this coveted award thanks to this incredible accomplishment.
