Temperatures in Bihar are now very chilly, with Sunday’s lows of 10°C or below. The Patna government has ordered all government and private schools up to class 8 to stay closed till January 11 due to the severe weather.
According to the Meteorological Office, the state’s lowest recorded temperature on Sunday was 6.7°C in Motihari, followed by Saran at 6.9°C, Dehri at 7°C, Samastipur at 9.2°C, Vaishali at 9.8°C, and Patna at 10°C.
In addition, a dense fog layer kept the sky obscured, making it more harder to see. Over the following two to three days, similar circumstances are probably going to continue.
Prior to this, the Patna government requested that all government and private schools, including preschools, anganwadi centers, and coaching centers, conduct classes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on January 2–6.
Jharkhand Declares Holidays for Schools
Because of the extreme cold wave that is striking northern India, the Jharkhand government has ordered that kindergarten through eighth grade courses be suspended from January 7 to January 13. Due to the very cold weather that is now plaguing Jharkhand, the state’s School Education and Literacy Department issued a statement stating that all schools, including government, aided, minority, and private institutions, are subject to shutdown.
The IMD reports that the temperature in Jharkhand has fallen below 6 degrees Celsius, with Khunti recording the lowest temperature at 5.3 degrees Celsius.
