India lost the five-match Test series, but Jasprit Bumrah had a remarkable recent visit to Australia, finishing as the series’ top wicket-taker with 32.

India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in ten years, despite Bumrah’s amazing efforts. The top bowler even had a near-injury scare during the fifth Test match in Sydney, missing much of the play because of a back problem.

With Bumrah expected to miss much of the T20I and ODI series due to back spasms, India has taken a serious knock ahead of their white-ball match against England at home.

Beginning on February 19, the action was done as a precaution to keep an eye on the ICC Champions Trophy.

Due to back spasms, 31-year-old Bumrah, who bowled more than 150 overs throughout the series, was unable to bowl in the last innings at the SCG. India therefore lost the five-match series 3-1 after losing the last Test match.

The BCCI medical staff will attempt to make sure the senior bowler is well for the prestigious ICC competition, where his presence is essential to India’s success, since Bumrah’s current ailment is directly related to his excessive exertion throughout the series.

The severity of Bumrah’s back spasm has not yet been determined, according to a PTI report.

On February 20 in Dubai, India will play Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy opener.

It will need at least two to three weeks of therapy before Bumrah can return to play (RTP) if his injury falls into the grade 1 category.

While Grade 3 injuries are the most serious and need at least three months of rest and therapy, Grade 2 injuries may be recovered from in as little as six weeks.

Although it was anticipated that Bumrah would not participate in the T20I bilateral series since this is not the World Cup year, he would have preferred some participation in the 50-over ODIs against England with the Champions Trophy approaching.

Whether the 31-year-old plays in the England series at all or at least the last game at his home stadium in Ahmedabad on February 12 to assess his health will depend on the remaining significant factors surrounding his injury.

Beginning on January 22, India will play England in three ODIs and five T20Is.
