While the festival of Shiva-Parvati marriage is celebrated very auspiciously in many different temples of the country, the marriage of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati is not celebrated auspiciously in Jambukeshwar temple. The reason behind this is the legend associated with the temple. It is believed that once Lord Shiva asked Goddess Parvati to go to earth and do penance.

In this way Goddess Parvati came to earth in the form of Akilandeshwari and she started worshiping Lord Shiva in the forest of birth. Later, the penance of Mother Parvati was completed by having darshan of Lord Shiva.

An interesting belief related to this temple is that the priest here is wearing clothes like a woman while worshiping Lord Jambukeshwar. The reason behind doing this is very special.
