Pakistani actress Hina Khwaja Bayat issued a clarifying statement after criticizing actresses for wearing revealing outfits.
Recently, social media has been flooded with highlights from actress Yashma Gill’s sister’s wedding celebrations, which featured various showbiz personalities like Dananeer Mobeen, Hania Amir, and others. These stars not only added glamour to the event but also lit up the stage with their dance moves.
Among the attention-grabbing elements were the actresses’ outfits, most of which included lehenga cholis. In response, senior actress Hina Bayat shared a post in which she criticized the bold dressing sense of Pakistani women.
Hina Bayat expressed her displeasure, mentioning that she was wondering if people had forgotten that there was something called a “kameez” (shirt). Although she did not name anyone directly, her comment was widely associated with the outfits worn by actresses like Hania Amir and Yashma Gill at the wedding.
Following this, Hina Bayat faced significant backlash on social media, with many linking her words to the dresses worn by actresses at the wedding.
Subsequently, Hina Bayat released another video message to clarify her statement. She tagged Yashma Gill and Hania Amir, explaining her words. She addressed social media handlers, expressing her frustration with pages that spread content without proper context. She added, “These pages get views but also hurt the feelings of the personalities they associate the statements with.”
Acknowledging her words, Hina Bayat questioned the nature of such content, asking why her comments were taken as an attack on Hania Amir and Yashma Gill. She stated that her original comment was about the disappearance of traditional outfits like kameez, pishwas, and angrakhas in modern fashion. She emphasized that she never meant to judge any individual.
In her final remarks, Hina Bayat prayed for guidance for everyone, wishing that they be protected from all kinds of evil.
