10th Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival To Be Held In Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar From Jan 15 - Details Inside
The 10th Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival will be held in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar from January 15, the organisers have announced. The film festival will be held at the PVR INOX, Prozone Mall in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.As per the official announcement, the film festival will span over five days, from January 15 to January 19. It is expected to be graced by several nations and artists from across the globe.The festival will be inaugurated by Maharashtra’s Minister of Cultural Affairs, Ashish Shelar, along with the festival’s chairman, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker. During the five days of the event, the Indian Cinema Competition category will feature nine films in several Indian languages. A panel of five national-level jury members will evaluate the films along with the audience. The Best Indian Film awardee will receive the Golden Kailas Award along with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. Awards will also be presented in the Best Actor (Male/Female) categories as well as for the Best Screenplay.The jury for the Indian Cinema Competition will be chaired by renowned actress Seema Biswas (Guwahati). The jury panel includes veteran cinematographer CK Muraleedharan (Mumbai), senior editor Deepa Bhatia (Mumbai), director Joe Baby (Kochi), and screenwriter and actor Girish Joshi (Mumbai).The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) will also have a special jury for the festival, which will be chaired by veteran writer and film critic Latika Padgaonkar, along with Shiladitya Sen (West Bengal) and GP Ramachandran (Kerala).This year’s Padmapani Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to eminent author, screenwriter, producer, and director Padma Bhushan Sai Paranjpye for her contribution to Indian cinema. To mark the 10th year of the festival, the organisers have also planned to screen Kaliya Mardan, the iconic silent film directed by the father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke, 105 years ago.The Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival is organised by Marathwada Art, Culture and Film Foundation and presented by Nath Group, Mahatma Gandhi Mission and Yashwantrao Chavan Centre. It is endorsed by International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) and Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI). It is also supported by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, as well as the Government of Maharashtra.
