Following Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) 'Mahila Samman Yojana', the Congress has launched its own 'Pyari Didi Yojana' to attract women voter when Delhi Legislative Assembly election are possibly just a month away. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, along with AICC in charge Qazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav made the announcement about the scheme in Congress headquarters in New Delhi. Mahila Congress chief Alka Lamba and Congress spokesperson Ragini Nayak were present at the press conference as well.

Through the Pyari Didi Scheme, Congress has promised to pay Rs 2500 per month to women in Delhi if elected to power.

"Today, I am here to launch the 'Pyari Didi' scheme. I am confident that Congress will form the govt in Delhi and we will provide Rs 2,500 to women, and it will be decided in the very first meeting of cabinet - on the same model that we implemented in Karnataka," said Shivakumar during the press conference.

On December 12, former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal announced that if voted to power in Delhi again, AAP government will provide Rs 1000 to women in Delhi who are aged 18-years and above. The party also said that the amount will be raised to Rs 2100.

Announcing the 'Laadki Bahin' scheme that provided monetary benefits to women is now widely considered to be one of the main reason ruling Mahayuti was able to record landslide victory in recently concluded Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections.

The resounding victory took the alliance back in the game from the inferior position it was believed to have been pushed to because of Maha Vikas Aghadi's good performance in Lok Sabha elections earlier last year.
