Table Space Founder Amit Banerji Passes Away At 44

In an unfortunate incident at the onset of 2025, the startup ecosystem has lost another entrepreneur in the form of coworking space provider Table Space’s founder, chairman and CEO Amit Banerji.

Inc42 has learnt that the 44-year old passed away due to a heart attack this morning (January 6). The development was first reported by VCC Circle.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amit Banerji, our founder, chairman and CEO. Banerji was a visionary leader who transformed the flexible workspace solution industry in India. His leadership built Table Space into what it is today. His impact on the company, its people and the industry will be lasting, and he will be profoundly missed by his family, friends and partners. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time,” the company said in a statement.

Banerji founded Table Space in 2017 to offer customised coworking spaces to companies across India. It is presently offering services to over 500 clients such as Apple, Google, AMD, EY, GKN Aerospace, Shell, JCI and Analog Devices, among others, according to its LinkedIn profile.

The startup’s shared office spaces are available across 9.5 Mn sq ft in seven cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad. The startup last from private equity fund Hill House Capital back in November 2022.

Recently, the startup was reportedly looking to pursue an initial public offering (IPO) that would value it at $2.5 Bn. According to a report by TechCrunch, Table Space had Axis Capital as a bookrunner for its IPO, which was scheduled to materialise in 2025.

Prior to dawning the entrepreneurial hat, Banerji served as the managing director- corporate real estate for Accenture for a period of 13 years between 2004 to 2017.

His departure adds on to the list of lost startup pioneers including Epigamia’s cofounder Rohan Mirchandani, Good Capital’s cofounder Rohan Malhotra, among others, that the ecosystem has .
