The Naxals’ act was described as “shameful” by the AAP MP.

Singh also questioned Home Minister Amit Shah and the Union government about the event, asking why such occurrences continue to occur despite their claims that terrorism has been vanquished.

“It is a shameful incident,” Sanjay Singh told ANI. Since the Indian government and Union HM Amit Shah claim to have eradicated terrorism, they have to explain why such instances continue to occur. I honor the Jawans who lost their lives in this explosion.Violence should not be tolerated. The Ministry of Home Affairs’ agencies need to respond appropriately to this.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had expressed profound sadness over the deaths of District Reserve Guard (DRG) members and reiterated the Center’s resolve to eradicating naxalism from Indian territory by March 2026 and ensuring that the troops’ efforts would not go in vain.

Following the news of the tragic incident in which eight DRG personnel and their civilian driver were killed when Naxalites detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting their vehicle on the Kutru-Bedre road in Bijapur district, Shah took to X to offer his condolences to the families of the deceased.

“The news that DRG men were killed in the IED explosion in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, saddens me much. I offer the families of the courageous warriors my deepest sympathies. Words cannot describe this sorrow, but I promise you that our warriors’ sacrifices will not be in vain. By March 2026, we will abolish naxalism from Indian territory,” Shah said.

The DRG squad was returning from an anti-Naxal operation when the incident took place. All nine people inside the car died instantly as a result of the vehicle’s destruction due to the strong explosion. This is among the worst assaults on the region’s security services in recent memory.

Previous Naxal offensives in the area are reminiscent of this onslaught. Notably, a similar IED explosion in the nearby Dantewada neighborhood on April 26, 2023, killed eleven police officers and a civilian motorist.

Leading the state’s anti-Naxal operations is the DRG, a specialist division of the Chhattisgarh Police that includes indigenous recruits, including Naxalites who have surrendered. Numerous successful operations against Naxalite militants have benefited greatly from their in-depth understanding of the terrain and guerilla tactics.

Security has been increased across the Bastar division in reaction to the assault, and more troops have been sent in to capture the attackers. In order to maintain regional peace and security, the state administration has reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out vigorous operations against Naxal groups.
