Malaysian police are searching for four men involved in robbing two Chinese tourists in Genting Highlands, a popular tourist destination.
The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, 2024, while the tourists were walking in Pekan Gohtong Jaya, a well-known satellite town in the area, according to The Straits Times.
Police reported that the tourists were approached by the suspects, who forced them into a luxury vehicle.
The female victim managed to escape, but the male victim was taken away by the perpetrators.
The male victim was later abandoned by the roadside after the suspects took a sum of cash and coerced him into transferring money to their accounts, The Star reported.
Both victims sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital.
An investigation into the robbery is underway.
Malaysia has waived visas for Chinese tourists since late 2023.
