Youth Congress attacks BJP office in Hyderabad over Priyanka Gandhi remarks

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed near the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office at Nampally on Tuesday, January 7, after the Youth Congress hurled stones at the BJP office to protest inappropriate comments of BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri against Congress leader and .

While a BJP worker was injured in the incident, the party workers targeted Congress workers and chased them away in the presence of police.

At noon, Youth Congress leaders charged towards the BJP office from Nampally main road. The police tried to stop them but the Congress workers reached the BJP office gate and hurled eggs and tomatoes.

The police pushed away the Congress party workers. The BJP workers who were in the office came out carrying sticks and tried to attack Congress workers in an attempt to chase them away.

Senior BJP leader Ramesh Biduri had made inappropriate remarks against Priyanka Gandhi, following which the Youth Congress planned to lay siege to the BJP office at Nampally in protest against the statements.

I assure you that just as we made the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will make all the roads in Kalkaji like Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks,” Bidhuri is heard saying in a purported video, which went viral on social media. However, he later posted a message on X expressing regret if his comments hurt anyone and claimed that his remarks had been misconstrued by some for political gains.

After the confrontations, security has been tightened and more police personnel have been deployed at the BJP office and Gandhi Bhavan, the state Congress party headquarters.

Tensions escalate at Gandhi Bhavan

Tension gripped Gandhi Bhavan in Nampally as BJP leaders attempted to besiege the premises. Hyderabad police intervened to prevent the situation from escalating, using a lathi charge to disperse BJP cadres and restore order.

Several BJP leaders were detained during the protest, and additional police forces were deployed in the area to maintain peace.

Dy CM Bhatti condemns attack on both party offices

Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka condemned the actions of both BJP and Congress workers and the attacks on the party offices. He said that law and order will be upheld, and the attacks on BJP and Congress offices will not be tolerated.

Reiterating that TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud has also condemned the attack on BJP office, and that chief minister A Revanth Reddy has taken the issue seriously, Bhatti said that law will take its own course on these two incidents.

He felt that Ramesh Bhiduri and the central BJP leadership needed to feel ashamed of their actions, as the central leadership has not even issued any condemnation on Bhiduri’s comment for the past couple of days since the comment was made.

He also reiterated that attacking political parties’ offices was not Congress’ culture.

Telangana BJP president demands strict action

Union minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy condemned the attack on the Telangana BJP office in Nampally by Congress workers, calling it an act of “goondaism.”

“Strongly condemn the Congress party’s goondaism, which targeted our @BJP4Telangana office in Nampally, Hyderabad, inflicting severe injuries on our Karyakartas. It is deeply unfortunate that the state has plunged into lawlessness under the Congress government, where goons, thugs, and violence are being given a free hand,” said Kishan Reddy on X.

He further demanded strict action against those responsible, stating, “Goondaism has become the new norm under the Congress. Such violent attacks on our offices will not be tolerated at any cost, and I demand stringent action against these Congress goons.”

We can burn down or bulldoze Congress office: Raja Singh

Expressing his anger on the attack on BJP office by Youth Congress workers, BJP Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh demanded chief minister A Revanth Reddy to apologise to BJP workers and its office staff for the incident.

“Is this what is taught in Congress party,” he asked, warning that if BJP workers wished, they could set Congress office (Gandhi Bhavan) on fire, or level it with bull-dozers.

He said that the law and order situation in the state had collapsed, as the home department was running under the chief minister as its minister.

“Humse jo takraayega mitti mein mil jaayega,” he warned the Congress workers in a video message on Tuesday.
