Indias head coach Gautam Gambhir along with senior members Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have come under the scanner after shameful Test series defeat against Australia and failing to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the first time. India suffered their first home Test series defeat after 12 years against New Zealand. This was the first instance of the Indian team being whitewashed in a Test series at home. Later India lost the Border-Gavaskar trophy (BGT) after 10 years Australia won the series 3-1 despite losing the first game at Perth by 295 runs. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma faced his all time low in Test cricket as he managed to score just 31 runs in five innings at an average of 6.1 in Australia. Virat Kohli started the tour on a high note with a ton in the first Test but failed to cross a single half-century after that and ended the tour with just 190 runs in nine innings at an average of 23.95. When it comes to Gautam Gambhir his coaching stint with the national team has got off to a nightmare start. Before the horrible shows against New Zealand and Australia India faced a defeat against Sri Lanka after 27 years. Despite recent poor performances a report by IANS suggests that Gambhir Rohit and Virat will retain their positions with the BCCI set to conduct a review meeting without making drastic changes. Yes there will be a review meeting but no firing. Cmon you cant sack a coach for the batters poor show in one series. Gautam Gambhir will remain the coach and Virat and Rohit will feature in the England series. The focus is Champions Trophy a BCCI source told IANS. From now on the focus shifts to white ball cricket with the ICC Champions Trophy taking place next month Indias next red-ball assignment is a tour of England where they will play five Test matches.
