ISRO New Chief: V Narayanan will be the new ISRO Chief, will replace S Somnath on January 14

ISRO New Chief: The name of the new chief of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has been announced. Present ISRO chief S Somnath will be replaced by eminent scientist V Narayanan. The Government of India gave this information on Tuesday. V Narayanan will take over as ISRO chief on January 14.

As per the order of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, V Narayanan will take charge on January 14 in place of current ISRO chief S Somnath. He will hold the responsibility of this post for the next two years or until further notice. In fact, the current chairman of ISRO, S. Somnath assumed his post on 14 January 2022. He is retiring after a tenure of three years.

During the initial phase, V Narayanan worked in the field of sounding rockets and solid propulsion of Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV) and Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) at Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC).

V Narayanan contributed to the process planning, process control and implementation of the Ablative Nozzle System, Composite Motor Case and Composite Igniter Case. Presently Narayanan is the Director of Liquid Propulsion System Center (LPSC), one of the major centers of ISRO, headquartered at Valiyamala, Thiruvananthapuram, with a unit in Bengaluru. Narayanan has 40 years of experience. He is an expert in rocket and spacecraft operations.
