New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sent three senior officials to two separate nations to improve cooperation between the CBI and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL). For improved criminal monitoring, the agency has sent officers to INTERPOL for the first time.
A senior source stated that three CBI personnel had been stationed—two in France and one in Singapore—for improved cooperation in order to promptly address concerns pertaining to transnational crimes and fugitives’ tracking. This is the first time it has been done. Only senior officers were formerly assigned to INTERPOL.
“These officers help in facilitating extradition, coordination, and other legal issues related to fugitives involved in transnational crimes,” said the officer.
Over 170 notifications in a variety of categories have been sent out in 2024.
INTERPOL alerts may be classified into seven different categories: Orange, Purple, Green, Blue, Yellow, Black, and Red.
These alerts are sent to all member nations by INTERPOL upon request from the National Central Bureau of a member nation.
In order to expedite overseas support for agencies, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the ‘Bharatpol’ platform on Tuesday.
With its main office in Lyon, France, Interpol promotes international police collaboration and the prevention of crime.
