The proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill is in the interest of the country, according to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Vishnu Dayal Ram.
Today in New Delhi, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) is holding its first meeting to discuss the One Nation One Election plan.
Prime Minister Modi’s appeal for ‘One Nation, One Election’ is beneficial to the country.The Law Ministry will present at today’s meeting, and the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024 will be discussed.Ram, a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, told the media, “We have several elections in the country, and the administrative machinery is always involved in elections and MCC is imposed, resulting in policy paralysis.”
“So, the ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill must be passed,” he said.
PP Chaudhary, a BJP MP, will preside over the meeting. The parliamentary panel will be briefed by representatives of the Ministry of Law and Justice. Chaudhary told the media that an attempt will be made to find a consensus.
In terms of the process, we will try to hear from all parties whose opinions are crucial, whether they be legal professionals, representatives of the court or civil society, or political parties. We shall review the Bill objectively and with an open mind after considering everyone’s viewpoints.It will be an endeavor to ensure that we all reach an agreement. due to the fact that every MP on this Committee is a distinguished individual.
I think we’ll cooperate and attempt to get an agreement for the sake of the country,” he added.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Manish Tewari of the Congress, Supriya Sule of the NCP, Kalyan Banerjee of the TMC, and PP Chaudhary, Bansuri Swaraj, and Anurag Singh Thakur of the BJP are among the Lok Sabha members of the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
