New Delhi: Malayalam actress Honey Rose recently filed a complaint about being harassed on social media, leading to the registration of a case against approximately 30 individuals.
Kerala police have recorded her statement and already arrested one suspect.
The 33-year-old star reported to the Ernakulam police that she was being targeted with vulgar posts and comments aimed at personally humiliating her. The investigation is progressing swiftly, with authorities promising to apprehend all culprits soon.
AMMA extends support to actress Honey Rose
In response, the Malayalam Movie Artists Association (AMMA) extended its full support to Honey Rose, assuring her of complete legal assistance in her fight for justice. Additionally, the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has rallied behind her with the hashtag #BeWithHer, sharing her social media note to highlight the issue.
In her note, Honey clarified that she has never appeared in public wearing attire that violates Indian laws and emphasised that individuals cannot impose their personal moral codes on others. The WCC reiterated this stance, sharing her post to amplify awareness.
Addressing the harassment, the actress further stated that attending functions and public appearances is part of her profession, and while she accepts constructive criticism or jokes, posts that defame her character and hurt her dignity are unacceptable. She affirmed that her legal battle is not just for herself but also for countless women who face similar situations online.
