His roster of clients is an elite list that features Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Janhvi Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and the list is endless. His name is Amit Thakur.
This hair genie, reportedly, completed his education from Mumbai. According to a report by DNA, he got his first break at 21 working with Huma Qureshi. Eventually, he was furnished with opportunities to showcase his work at fashion weeks, public event earning him the place where he has come today. “I was always someone who was inclined towards the arts and creative pursuits. I sketched, painted, and would often spend time at my cousin’s salon. I found it fascinating that there is so much that you can do with your hair, and make it look so different in such varied ways. That is the initial inspiration for me joining a hair school, and by the end of that course, I became obsessed with and passionate about hair. That’s how my journey began,” he said speaking with Femina in a 2019 interview.
Over the year, he has worked with several celebrities be it for their personal affairs or films. One of his iconic works is regarded as Deepika Padukone’s regal look from ‘Padmavat’ in the role of Rajput queen ‘Padmavati’. In old interview, he has mentioned a personal best too. It was with Katrina Kaif.
“Another one would be Kumud played by Katrina Kaif in Bharat (2019). Owing to my long-standing relationship with Katrina, for this character, we were able to push the envelope to create something special; this was one of the few times she broke away from her usual sleek, pulled-back look and sported a curly hair look on the big screen.” Apart from this, he was also the man behind Kaif’s Harleyquinn look.

After years of hard work and establishing rapport with the film industry, he has come close to few of the names. But, it was all said in a joking manner and agreed how the step was right after he watched the episode!
Currently, Amit Thakur is an active internet persona where he keeps dropping his tips and tricks about hair care routines. He has his own academy Mane Masters Hair Academy while he continues spread creative magic with his hands and hair equipments.
