India Women vs. Ireland Women ODI Series: In their first-ever women’s bilateral ODI series, India will take on Ireland after a strong showing against the West Indies. Regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur has been rested along with pacer Renuka Singh; thus, Smriti Mandhana will lead the squad in the first game on Friday.
After winning the T20 series 2-1, India dominated the West Indies ODI series 3-0. As the leading scorer in both forms, Mandhana was in incredible form. She scored 193 runs in the T20s, including three straight fifties, and 148 runs in the ODIs, including two half-centuries. Before almost missing out on the last ODI, she made five consecutive half-centuries throughout the trip.
Players like Harleen Deol, Pratika Rawal, and Jemimah Rodrigues will have to assist Mandhana and strengthen India’s batting order in Kaur and Renuka’s absence.
However, Ireland, captained by Gaby Lewis and including all-rounder Orla Prendergast as vice-captain, is up against a tough opponent. India has dominated their meetings with Ireland in the past, winning all 12 ODIs. India defeated Ireland by only five runs in their most recent match, which took place during the 2023 T20 World Cup.
