As many as 142000 high-net-worth individuals with liquid investable wealth of one million dollars or more are expected to migrate to other countries in 2025.
According to a report published in Henley and Partners it will be one of the largest wealth migrations.
At least 1.34 lakh millionaires migrated in different countries in 2024. Most of the people moved to USA UAE and Italy while a huge number of people left the United Kingdom.
According to reports the shift in location is driven by global instability geopolitical tensions and financial uncertainty. Additionally digital connectivity and investment migration programs have further encouraged this trend.
The nations that attracted high-net-worth individuals include Malta Monaco Switzerland Singapore and the UAE. These places are also known as Safe Haven 8. The high-quality lifestyle strong infrastructure and tax incentives have made them ideal destinations for millionaires to migrate. It is expected that 142000 millionaires will migrate in 2025 up from 51000 in 2013 marking a 178% rise. In 2019 110000 millionaires migrated but the numbers declined in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As per the report the investment migration sector has become a mature wealth planning tool. At a time it was an option for the super rich people but now the government and financial institutions considered it as an important medium for economic development.
UAE’s golden visa programme crypto-friendly policies and world-class infrastructure make the country a hotspot. Singapore is also attracting millionaires because of its financial framework and political stability.
