Indian Railways has scheduled special trains for devotees attending the Mahakumbh Mela in 2025. From January 14 to January 29, the Mahakumbh Mela is scheduled to take place. The railways have launched 98 special trains in response to the issues that the devotees are experiencing. 98 special trains have been introduced to prioritize passenger comfort, cleanliness, and the correct functioning of electric equipment, according to Ahmedabad Division Railway PRO Ajay Solanki. “… Western Railway is operating Kumbh special trains and designating them with flex painting for the benefit of passengers… Electric appliance operation and hygiene are being addressed. So far, 98 customized trains have been launched. To assist with security and passenger guidance, RPF troops have been stationed at stations, according to the Ahmedabad Division Railway PRO.

Millions of pilgrims travel to and from the holy city safely and smoothly thanks to major efforts made by Indian Railways. The move was initiated to deal with the rush, according to Dilip Kumar, the Railway Board’s Executive Director of Information and Publicity.

To accommodate the high volume of people traveling for the Sangam Snan, one of the most important Mahakumbh festivities, the Indian Railways would run over 10,000 trains, including 3,300 special trains, according to Kumar.

According to Kumar, certain precautions have been put in place to deal with crowds, such as color-coding waiting and holding areas at stations for those without tickets.

Officers from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been sent in to guide passengers in a methodical fashion from designated places to their trains in order to maintain safety and order.

It is anticipated that more than 450 million devotees would attend the Mahakumbh, which is observed only every 12 years. At the Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge, pilgrims will assemble for this momentous occasion in order to partake in a holy plunge believed to atone for their sins and bring them moksha (freedom).

On January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami), the Kumbh’s principal bathing ceremonies (Shahi Snan) will be held.
