Bollywood has been ruled by so many actors including Shah Rukh Khan Salman Khan Amitabh Bachchan Aamir Khan and many others. However did you know that there was once an actor who had the potential to become one of the industrys biggest superstars? Unfortunately fate had something else in store for him. He became an overnight sensation with just one film but his career took a downturn soon after. If you havent guessed it yet this actor is none other than Rahul Roy. Rahul Roy’s Season of Stardom Rahul Roy made his debut in 1990 with the romantic musical drama Aashiqui. The film was a blockbuster and turned him into an overnight star. Following this success the actor became a well-known name in the industry. After Aashiqui Roy went on to star in Pyaar Ka Saaya and Junoon. At just 24 years old Rahul Roy surpassed Bollywoods Khans in popularity. His signature hairstyle and charismatic personality won the hearts of audiences establishing him as a rising star in Indian cinema. Rahul Roy’s Failure and Comeback However a turning point came when Rahul Roys films started to fail at the box office. After Junoon (1992) 15 of his films flopped consecutively. His last film before taking a hiatus Afsana Dilwalon was released in 2001. After this he took a break from acting and returned in 2006. By then his stardom had faded and he had seemingly disappeared from the limelight. After numerous failed attempts to revive his career Rahul decided to give his professional journey one last shot. He participated in the first season of the controversial reality show Bigg Boss in 2006. Throughout the season Rahul adopted a quiet and composed demeanour choosing not to engage in any controversies to gain attention. This strategy worked in his favour and he became a fan favourite. As a result Rahul Roy was declared the winner of Bigg Boss 1. Rahul Roy’s Deteriorating Health Rahul Roy faced challenging times when he suffered a heart attack followed by a brain stroke. Despite receiving treatment he struggled to pay his hospital bills due to financial difficulties. Bollywood star Salman Khan stepped in to quietly cover the expenses a gesture that Rahul later revealed in an interview. While battling his health issues Rahul began his journey toward recovery and gradually worked on re-establishing himself in the world of acting. Rahul is back to working in the film industry after recovering from a brain stroke in 2020. The actor did films and a mini-series and is also working on other projects.
