Motorists travelling on the M6 on the evening of January 10 were hit by a series of traffic woes.
The closure due to a collision of two out of three lanes between the J15 Hanchurch Interchange (Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme A500) and J16 Bartomley Interchange (Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Nantwich, Chester A500) sparked severe delays on Friday afternoon.
Despite the lanes re-opening at approximately 5.10pm, traffic remained heavily congested, with delays of two hours northbound, National Highways said.
The M6 in Staffordshire also had one lane closed northbound between J6 (Birmingham A38, Aston Expressway) and J7 (Great Barr A34).
