Chhattisgarh: Rescue operation underway at the site of collapse of silo structure at smelting plant in Mungeli

Mungeli: Rescue efforts are still ongoing at the Sargaon, Mungeli, smelting factory when a silo structure collapsed. Arun Sao, the deputy chief minister of Chhattisgarh, said he was saddened by the occurrence and described it as “very unfortunate.”

“This occurrence is very regrettable. After a 36-hour rescue operation, we were able to remove the silo construction after much work. The Deputy CM told the reporters, “It is now easy to conduct additional rescue operations.”

The deputy CM also expressed sympathy to the relatives of the deceased and gave them the assurance that the government will help them in every way it can.

“Those family members who lost their loved ones, the government is with them and will do all the help possible… The probe is underway; FIR has been registered. Those who are found responsible, the strictest action will be taken against them…” Sao went on.

The Mungeli collector, Rahul Deo, said that the task of retrieving the corpses was still ongoing and that the removal of the collapsed silo construction was a significant difficulty.

According to Deo, “Removing the silo structure was a big challenge for us…the work to retrieve the bodies is left now…very soon we will do this…we are trying to ensure that the bodies don’t get damaged further…so we are moving slowly…”

After the fall, a First Information Report was filed on January 10 against the manager, the person in charge, and a number of other people.
The FIR was filed in accordance with sections 106 (1), 289, and 35 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Navneet Kaur Chhabra.

“An FIR has been filed at the Sargaon police station in accordance with BNS sections 106 (1), 289, and 35. Manager Anil Prasad, supervisor Amit Kedia, and other management have been subject to action. An investigation is underway, and further measures will be implemented in response to the findings.”Speaking to ANI, Chhabra said.

Officials report that many workers have been hurt in the event, and one wounded worker is receiving treatment at the hospital.
