Alan Shearer believes just one club could sign Alexander Isak this month - but they would have to pay even MORE than £150m.
The Swedish forward has been one of the standout performers in the this campaign. He already has 15 goals to his name in all competitions this term.
That has seen Isak linked with a host of clubs including , and , while it is suggested that would . But Magpies icon Shearer thinks even that might be enough, hinting that the Blues might be the only club to be able to afford him.
Speaking to , Shearer said: “Other than possibly Chelsea, I genuinely don’t think that anybody could afford to buy Alexander Isak; because of the way that the rules are structured with PSR, I don’t think that anybody could afford him.

THE FA CUP GIANT KILLERS:
“I’ll never say PSR rules are a good thing - even without them in place, I’m not sure if anybody would be able to go to the price that Newcastle would ask for to sell him.
“I’d guess that they wouldn’t even entertain it. If you’ve paid £63 million for someone and he’s smashing the league up like he is right now, what would the price be?
“I’ve looked at £150m being talked about, but I don’t think that they would even entertain that, why would they? The problem then would be getting somebody in who could do as good of a job.
“That, at the minute, is what everybody needs - a centre-forward. There isn’t a club in the country who wouldn’t go out and buy a centre-forward like Isak if one was available.”
What should Isak do?
Isak, 25, has three-and-half years remaining on his deal at St James’ Park. And it appears that he is in no rush to leave the club any time soon.
"Playing football at this level has always been a dream and probably the main dream that I've had," he told Prime Video Sverige. "Playing in the Premier League for a club like Newcastle with a fan base like they have here is extra special."
Despite that, does see a route out of Newcastle for Isak. He has suggested that there could be an agreement between club and player for a transfer should they fail to secure a spot in the for next season.
Isak joined Newcastle from Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2022 in a deal worth a reported £63m. He has scored 50 goals in 89 appearances since then.
