New Delhi: Matt Henry the fast bowler from New Zealand reached an important milestone by taking his 150th wicket in One Day Internationals (ODIs) during the final match against Sri Lanka on January 11. This achievement not only showcases his exceptional skills but also secures his place among New Zealands top bowlers in cricket history.
Henry delivered an impressive performance claiming four wickets for 55 runs in his 10 overs. The defining moment of his match came when he dismissed Janith Liyanage with a perfectly executed lower full toss in the last over of the first innings marking his 150th ODI wicket. With this accomplishment he became the second-fastest bowler from New Zealand to reach this milestone just behind Trent Boult who managed it in 81 innings.
What makes Henrys milestone even more remarkable is that he has surpassed legendary figures like Richard Hadlee and Tim Southee. With just 83 innings under his belt he has established himself as one of New Zealands leading bowlers demonstrating his ability to perform consistently at the highest level.
In this match Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first hoping to regain some pride after a series of losses. They managed to set a competitive score of 290/8 led by three players scoring half-centuries. Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando laid a solid foundation while Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis made significant contributions.
Despite Sri Lankas better showing Henrys remarkable bowling performance stood out as the highlight of the match. As he continues to achieve success fans and analysts are excited to see how his career will progress in the years to come.
