Delhi-NCR Weather Update : Dense fog and a biting cold continue to grip several parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR. On Saturday evening, light rain was reported in areas of Delhi and Noida, further contributing to the chilly weather. The (IMD) has warned of more severe weather in the coming week, predicting rain, thunderstorms, and dense fog across multiple states.

According to reports from the Indian Railways, around 25 trains bound for Delhi are running behind schedule due to the low visibility caused by thick fog.

The IMD has issued weather alerts for thunderstorms and hailstorms in parts of northwest and central India. States likely to be affected include:

• Uttarakhand
• Punjab
• Madhya Pradesh
• Rajasthan
• Haryana
• Himachal Pradesh

Rain is expected across these states on January 12, accompanied by thunderstorms in certain regions.

In Northeast India, rain with thunderstorms is expected in Nagaland, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh on January 13. Meanwhile, southern states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and coastal Andhra Pradesh are likely to experience light rain from January 12 to January 15.

Due to an active western disturbance, moderate to heavy rain and snowfall are expected in the western Himalayan region from January 11 to 12, particularly in:

• Jammu and Kashmir
• Himachal Pradesh
• Uttarakhand

The IMD has also predicted that a new western disturbance will impact northwest India starting from January 14, potentially bringing another round of light rain and snowfall to the region on Thursday and Friday.

The IMD has issued warnings of cold day conditions in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh on January 12, while dense fog will continue to affect visibility in several states, particularly during the early morning and late-night hours. States expected to be impacted by dense fog include:

• Rajasthan
• Punjab
• Northeastern states

The IMD warns that foggy conditions are likely to persist until January 16, causing further travel disruptions.

The impact of cold winds in Himachal Pradesh remains strong, with the local Meteorological Department issuing an alert for light rain in the plains and snowfall in the upper reaches. Fresh snowfall is expected in various regions of the state on Sunday, bringing joy to tourists but also raising concerns about road safety.

According to weather officials, another western disturbance is set to affect northwest India starting from January 14, which could lead to light rain and snow in some parts of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday and Friday.
