Five drug dealers were taken into custody by police in Baramulla, J&K

January 12, Srinagar Authorities in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir said on Sunday that at least five drug dealers had been taken into custody and that illegal drugs had been found on them.

Police have detained five drug dealers in Baramulla and seized illegal narcotics from their hands as part of their ongoing efforts to remove the drug problem from society, according to a statement released by the police. near a roadblock set up near Thanda Kasi Chandoosa, a police team from Police Station Chandoosa, led by SHO police station Chandoosa, detained one individual. 56 grams of illegal Charas-like compounds were found in his possession during the search.

Later, it was determined that the individual was Mohd Shaban Maray from Dudbugh. He was then taken into custody.

At a roadblock set up at Limber Boniyar, a police team from Police Station Boniyar, led by SHO police station Boniyar, also detained two individuals. 88 grams of illegal Charas-like compounds were found in their possession during the search, the statement said.

Later on, they were recognized as Shabir Ahmad Bakerwal of Babagail Limber and Mehraj Ahmad of Limber. They were then taken into custody.

Along with the aforementioned, two people were detained by a Police Post Babareshi police team at a checkpoint set up at Babareshi Crossing. 85 grams of illegal Charas-like compounds were found in their possession during the search. They were eventually identified as Dudbugh locals Ishfaq Ahmad Magray and Dawood Ahmad Magray, both sons of Gh Rasool Magray. After then, they were taken into custody.

As a result, investigations have been started and cases under pertinent legal provisions have been lodged at Police Stations Chandoosa, Boniyar, and Tangmarg.

“We encourage the general public to call the local police station or number 112 if they see drug sales or any other kind of criminal activity occurring nearby. In order to reduce the drug threat in society, people are asked to work with the police. We reassure the community that police will enforce the law and take harsh measures against offenders,” the statement said.
