January 12, Mumbai Ahead of Monday’s celebration, director-producer Tahira Kashyap shared a touching memory of her first Lohri as a newlywed. Being Punjabi herself, she spoke about spending the holiday with her in-laws and how the festive celebrations perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the event.
“The first Lohri after marriage is celebrated with a lot of fervor in Punjabi culture,” Tahira, who is married to Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana, remarked in reference to the event. To commemorate our marriage, my in-laws threw a party. The wedded couples would circle the campfire while dancing and listening to music. We ate popcorn, peanuts, and gajak (chikki), all of which were tossed into the flames.
“It goes without saying that the chants of ‘Sundar Mundriye’ filled the air,” she said. I laughed at the song’s last two lyrics. “Give us Lohri, long live your pair, whether you cry or bang your head later,” is the exact translation. Young Punjabi couples are given a disclaimer like that by their elders.
Regarding her career, Tahira Kashyap directed her first film, “Sharmajee Ki Beti,” which was well-reviewed for its gripping plot and novel approach to directing. Tahira, who is well-known for motivating women and the younger generation, received a great deal of praise for the movie and helped change the way that people see tales in the modern world.
Her spouse, Ayushmann Khurrana, is now filming “Thama,” his next movie. The film’s team is recording some thrilling scenes in Mumbai, the nation’s metropolis, starting early next week and continuing until the first part of January, after a brief schedule there late last year.
“Thama,” which is part of Maddock’s popular horror comedy world, is marketed as a “bloody love story.” With Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in the major roles, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film promises to be an engrossing love tale set against a gory background.
Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik are the producers, Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara are the writers, and Aditya Sarpotdar, who starred in Munjya, is the director.
